A Little about ourselves
Peter worked for an American engineering company for many years, but eventually decided to change occupations, so that he could find more time to show our dogs and also be more involved in the judging element of the hobby. He now works for one of the larger Banks in the UK. Since the age of nine, he has handled and owned dogs, starting with the family German Shepherd, from there he has progressed to being the leading part in Bigglesmere kennel.
Unfortunately in 2001, Peter suffered a major heart attack, resulting in quadruple by-pass surgery. He has made a full recovery from this now.
Michael is a retired Hospital Pharmacist, but after three years retirement he decided to return to the profession, and is now a manager of one of the larger multiples in the UK, his branch being in a large Health Centre not far from home. His original hobbies were Amateur Radio (G3WGW) and flying. He has competed in many air rallies, being successful in many of them. Dog showing and judging are relatively new experiences for him, compared to Peter, as he has only been active in the sport since he joined the kennel. In July 2011, he had his second knee repacement, and appears to be recovering OK.
Our judging experience
We are both BIS judges at open show level, doing the Toy, Utility, Working, and Pastoral groups. At championship shows, we have both given challenge certificates in Rough & Smooth Collies.
Peter has also awarded challenge certificates in Border Collies and Miniature Pinchers.
He has judged several times on the Continent, including the German Collie Club. In June 2005, he judged the Lowchen Club of Norway and in July 2007 he judged the Finnish Lowchen Club.
2009 Judging
Michael had the privilege of Judging Smooth Collies at the British Collie Club Championship Show in February 2009. This being the premier club for Collies, Michael considers this a great honour,
We spent April 2009 visiting the middle & far East, Dubai, Singapore and meeting up with friends in Australia. This was a most memorable month’s holiday. This wouldn’t have been achieved without the help of friends here in the UK. Our thanks to Dawn & Zoe Richardson & Jackie Sanderson-Jenkins for taking care of our animals. Michael achieved another of his goals when he judged at “Greensborough & District Kennel Club” Rough & Smooth Collies. Attracting a record entry for the club in both breeds
In 2011 Peter judged Lowchens at Bath Championship Show, and Michael did Smooth Collies at S.K.C.
